1959 Fleer Ted Williams Ted Signs for 1959 EX-MTGreat color, no creases, minimal corner wear. A couple of tiny craters created by placing the
card between glass with dust particles still on the glass before being screwed into place. The elusive Ted Signs Card from
the 80 Card 1959 Ted Williams Set. No other player, not even Babe Ruth can say they got their very own set.
Okay, why is this card so darn expensive relative to the rest of the set? It's not a particularly interesting card.
There are other cards in the set that highlight more impressive feats than signing a piece of paper. Heck, there are
two cards with Babe Ruth on them that go for considerably less. Well, the other fellow on this card is Bucky Harris, the Boston
Red Sox General Manager. Bucky spent most of his life in baseball. He was an average ball player and a so-so manager
in the Bigs for 29 years. Never once as a manager did he make it to the World Series. So what's up with Bucky Harris?
What makes his presence on a card so valuable? It turns out Topps had an exclusive contract with Bucky and asked the
Fleer Company to cease and desist distributing card #68.
