Kenmore Collectibles buys 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards
Babe Ruth retired from the Majors in 1935, over eighty years ago and yet, we still talk about Babe Ruth like he just hit a walk-off home run yesterday.  This is the impact Babe Ruth has had on the game of baseball. No one comes close.  As you can well imagine, his baseball cards are highly prized. Although there are many many Babe Ruth cards out there from the 1914 Baltimore News Orioles card to the 2018 Diamond Kings Jersey Card, this post is just about four of these cards. Collectors prize these four as the “Babe Ruth of Babe Ruth Cards”;  I am talking about the 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards ( #53, #144, #149, #181).  Perhaps you have one of these Goudey Ruth cards in a coffee can somewhere?  Time to pull it out and see what it is worth. VG/EX VG/EX VG/EX VG/EX
 $4400.00 $3250.00 $3750.00 $3375.00
VG/EX Condition has one moderate issue or several minor issues but generally a decent looking card.  Example of a moderate issue would be some mild corner wear in all corners, enough to see some fuzz. Several minor issues could be off-center and a small wrinkle on the back of the card. Please click on the image to get a closer look.

EX EX EX EX
 $8700.00 $5350.00 $3900.00 $4500.00
Excellent condition at first glance looks NM but it does not take much to be an EX card. Examples might be four corners with minor wear or centering 70-30 or a card not in perfect resolution (picture and color dots don’t match up). I think of EX as a card that is actually above the average condition of a card. Please click on the image to get a closer look.

EX/MT EX/MT EX/MT EX/MT
 $13,500.00 $5600.00 $7600.00 $11,000.00
EX/MINT Condition starts to get difficult to see for  the amateur collector  What looks NM can really be EX/MINT. Two corners could have wear, card could be fairly well centered on the front but very off-center on the back. A magnifying glass is needed sometimes to see issues for EX/MINT Please click on the image to get a closer look.

Near MINT Near MINT Near Mint Near MINT
 $23,000.00 $11,500.00 $22,500.00 $14,600.00
When it comes to Near-MINT condition, professional graders start to nit pick.  It becomes less objective and more subjective and not what is great about a card but what knocks it down a grade or two.  One corner will have some wear. Back of the card might show a little white in two corners. Please click on the image to get a closer look. f you have one of these 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards, congratulations.
